CoVid-19 – Responsible Action, Social Solidarity, Continued Customer Support

As a sign of social solidarity and true care for one another Torch is practicing Social Distancing during the South African lock-down announced by President Rhamaphosa on Sun 15 March.  We believe our president has made the right and necessary call, and we intend to honour his call to action.

 

Torch is a small company and so need to place the well-being of our people at the top of our priority list. In doing so we endeavour to ensure that we can continue to work for our customers and give them the same, good service experience which may look a little different in practice but still have the same great Torch team and values at the heart.

 

SME’s are a critical component of an inclusive economy, employing 47% of South Africa’s workforce (Sipho Pityana). Torch takes its role in the South African economy and our customer’s ecosystems very seriously and as such we are taking steps to enable all of our staff to work from home in the event of more extreme lock down measures being implemented or self-isolation periods becoming necessary.  We are going to expand the use of our online collaboration tools like Trello and Zoom to keep us connected and productive and all external meeting requests will be amended to include “new meeting room” details.

 

Our intention is to maintain the Torch office as a safe zone for our employees ensuring the wellbeing and safety of our families. All Torch employees have been recalled to the Torch office and external meetings with customers and partners have been moved online in order to ensure business continuity.

 

Our staff have been asked to limit the use of public transport, avoid public gatherings of greater than 20 people, and suspend travel both locally and internationally in order to minimise exposure.  It’s going to be a quiet Easter at home with close family.
